every animal makes milk to nurse their young, cows too. so after a cow gives birth, it makes milk. it makes milk same like anything else, including blood, muscle, etc. milk in particular is made in a special group of tissue called mammary glands.
chickens make eggs, and chicks develop inside. it's the same in humans, really, just that our young develops in the uterus, while the young of a chicken develops inside an egg. The difference is that a chickens's egg is made extra-large, with nutrients in the inside, and covered in a hard protective shell made from calcium. with humans, these nutrients are supplied as needed by the mother's placenta.

chicken lay eggs because they are birds. they will lay eggs both fertial and infertail. cows give milk after birth because they are mammals.
