Do not rely on software fixes.

If indeed they are overheating the only reliable solution is to improve the air circulation in your tower.

I would install an extra fan in the front or rear chassis (wherever it is easier).

If you've been upgrading your mainboard & CPU over the years with the same case I would just replace it altogether.

Most older cases were not designed with the proper air circulation needs of today's higher performing components.

Don't take a chance on quick fixes .... you'll surely regret not listening to the warning signs once permanent damage occurs.

there isnt really a way to tweak a fan (some programs may change it a little but you wont see much difference and could cause harmful damage), but many places sell individual case fans that you install inside the computer case that can keep the inside of your computer cooler

** you might want to look into water cooling systems if its too much of a problem, but that can get costly

Get an after market CPU fan/heatsink. Zalman makes good CPU cooling products. Get one that fits your CPU and socket size. Use a BB sized droplet of "Arctic Silver" thermal grease on the CPU when you re-assemble the CPU fan to the cleaned CPU. As far as the mobo goes, get some case fans to solve that problem. Have 2 intake fans and 1 exhaust fan on your case. Use round IDE cables instead of the "ribbon" style to increase air flow inside of the case. Get hard drive fans to cool off the hard drives. Keep the dust blown out of the computer's case and off of it's internal components.

Make sure you don't have any of the airflow ports blocked. May have to install an extra fan.
