i wanted to know if anyone knows of a way i can become a writer, perferably advice, for a newspaper, magazine, anything, but keep living where i live and do it online. i'm only 16 but i was hoping i could write anyways since it is my passion (and get paid for it of course....school newspapers suck)

I'm assuming that you want to be a magazine journalist. The best thing to do is to "pitch" ideas to online magazines, give them a taster of what your idea for an article is, but not so much that they can just pass the info onto one of their own staff writers. And don't expect to get paid for doing it! The more experience you get, and perhaps if you become a qualified journalist, then you can expect money-but not when your a 16-year-old who hasn't even made a name for his/herself yet! I don't mean to be rude, but believe me, you will be laughed out of the door, and editors will be wary about working with you if you demand money and you are still a novice. The experience, and the chance to build up your portfolio, is all you should expect right now.

check Craigslist.org, there are always tons of freelance writing jobs. Click link "writing/editing" for many different jobs available in your area.

Ask,... the very place you want to write just boldly send a letter to them and ask. send a sample of your work!
