I've got a 1998 s reg mark 4 golf. Water hasn't been spraying from the rear washer since the day i bought the car! (Its been about 7 months now). I've removed the cover and had a look at the water pipe. The connection is fine and there is no sign of leaking water. The front washers work fine so what could be causing this problem?
Thanks.

The motor works because it makes the same sounds as when i use the front washers and i'm pretty sure there is only one resorvior for both front and rear.

Either the nozzle is blocked or the pipe is full of gunge.
Disconnect the pipe from the pump and blow through it with an airline. (Keep out of range of the other end when you do!)

Does this car have individual containers, one for the front and one in the back, behind the plastic molding? If so it the rear empty?
If it uses one container it will have 2 pumps, same for above, have someone activate the rear washers, is the pump buzzing?
Gotta be something simple.
Got fluid, and a buzzing pump.. check the nozzle on the glass for blockage. disconnect line from nozzle and blow from outside forcing blockage out where line had been connected.
Good luck

Blockage could be in the nozzle that releases the water - cleaning with a pin or needle might help

The reservoir is empty of fluid. (The rear has a separte one)
The motor is not working. (Did the wires come undone?)
The motor works, but isn't pumping fluid.
The motor works, the fluid is pumping, but there is a blockage in the system.
Find which one, and fix it.

sounds like the pipe has come off the jet and could be mendacity in the roof someplace. you will ought to be care finished as each and every time you artwork the washers you would be squirting water into the vehicle.
