Lady Delish!!! Such a good question!
If you speak about her way to twist and bewitch words, yeah!
She is a great witch...
About Harry, that a bit more complicated!
We, writers tend to blend reality and fiction if we are not historians and while J.K told fans in a D.V.D I rented she liked to play witch when she was small, no, she never said she is a historian...
But her characters have things in common with her childhood friends and even the name Potter is one of their names...
I think, she was a bit like Hermione, but funnier! Happily!

Aahhhhh.... an interesting inquiry. I must admit, I've had the same question bounce through my brain a time or two. Now, I know I'll probably get several "thumbs downs" because of this, but it's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it. Hopefully I won't get beaten to a pulp.

As for Harry Potter...he IS real...he's real because he exists, even if it is only in our imaginations...just like Santa, the Tooth Fairy, Det. Alex Cross, Frodo Baggins and many many other things that we've heard of and never "seen".

As a writer, I know how "real" my characters become...even in my own head. A good writer will create the same image of that person and their actions into their reader's minds. The majority of my characters are a conglomerate of other people I know...looks, accents, the way they swagger..things of that nature...They take on an entity all their own. So, yes, they do "exist".

You also must separate the improbable from the impossible. The likelihood that, say, dragons and fairies exist is only limited to one's imagination. I suppose that SOMEWHERE (or perhaps even sometime) there are creatures once thought a myth that actually live(d). It's probable that we haven't explored all we can explore, and we (people, society) are missing out on something wonderful.

As for Ms. Rowling being a witch...who knows.. her religious beliefs are her own business.(I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that she is a believer of the Christian sort...I want to say Presbyterian, but I could be wrong). Does she posess true magic? Define magic. She certainly is talented. She's captivated a great deal of folks with the "magic" of words and phrases. So, my dear, I think you've answered your own question.....

No and No....... sorry.....

However there is a much more lax attitude towards witchcraft and alternate faiths in general in England. Contrary to the belief, the Pilgrims were 'invited to leave' and did not leave necessarily voluntarily from 'Merry Ol' England'.

The English view this as a part of their culture and heritage and do not look down on witchcraft.

Yes. They cohabitate with Santa Claus, the Loch Ness Monster, and the Yeti. They live at Stonehenge, but previously were in Atlantis. They also have herds of unicorns and own the fountain of youth. Shh-don't tell.

J.K.Rowling may or may not be a witch, but both the supernatural logic (structure of magic) and the supernatural phenomenology (magical events) that occur within the book are entirely inconsistent with both reality as modern scientists understand it, and supernatural phenomena as I grew up understanding and experiencing it.

Witch does not necessarily mean that cultural baggage idea of a witch that you are carrying around. That baggage is what J.K.Rowling is appealing to with the title, but its just as terrible to describe a witch using cultural prejudice as to use the n-word on a person of color because of cultural prejudice.

Im a Christian, and witches are pagans, so we have a fundamental religious difference. My God, the God of the Bible has, as one of His true names the title "Infinite Truth". My God is the God of Truth, and would be disappointed in me for contriving a persons identity based on cultural prejudice and not understanding. My God says "understand the person" while He says "do not participate in their religious rituals".

When I say that it is rumored that J.K.Rowling is a practicing witch that means she belongs to a different religion, like being a practicing Jew, a practicing Hindu, or a practicing Muslim.

Witches didnt fly as in flight on a broom. Thats not what that degrading metaphor was. They "hopped the broomstick", remember? To refer to them flying on it is calling them prolific whores, not supernaturally airborne.

J. K. Rowling is a literary genius that created the fictional Harry Potter series that has made her one of the wealthiest women in the world. Because of this fact along with the story plot, she has been accused of witchcraft and other horrible accusations that are not true. Her story line has brought children and adults back to reading and has improved my children's interest in books along with my interest. Since we have all read the series, we have something in common to discuss as a family.

Not that I heard of... For someone who writes such fantasy, I would wonder where she gets her inspirations from... When I watch the all the Harry Porter movies, it never fail to amaze me where she gets her ideas from...Something to think abt though...
