I swear I go through more socks then anyone, I think my neighbor steals my socks out of the washer, I always check in a few times... I can't figure it out either!

To answer directly. "YES"

There is somewhere in the Universe, much like reports of old about an Elephant burial ground,,, A place where all socks go.

Is it Cotton Heaven? I can't say, but I know one thing if nothing else. SOCK manufacturers should sell their product in 3's.

Certainly we usually wear 2 at a time, and most often never lose both in the cleaning process. The sock drawer keeps the replacement. Personally "I" don't wear them.

Beyond that there is a sock philosophy, known only to them and the Universe. It's much like Cats having 3 names,,,ONE, WE can never truly know.

Perhaps the afterlife will reveal the lost socks? Perhaps we will be cushioned softly, IF we arrive there, at some point? OR, possibly, and especially if we were the type who got Coal in a Christmas stocking, we might be destined, eternally to "wash" and wonder?

We all have them it seems like. It doesn't matter what I do, but there always seems to be at least one stray sock when doing laundry. Many times they fall behind the dryer. They also can get sucked into the tumbler part, and if you pull your dryer out you may find some. Lots of times mine just stick to clothes, so I don't find it until I wear something and it's inside the leg of my pants. I keep stray socks so long and when I'm sure there is not match they can be tossed.

Also a good idea is just get the same pattern white socks and the same pattern of dark socks so any can go together and you don't have tons of different white socks to match.

I have a sock monster problem too, I leave the lid of the washer open when doing laundry. This seems to scare him

No, but if you look under the tumbler in your dryer you would find lots of socks. They get sucked behind it and just fall to the bottom under the tumbler. There is a little drawer in the back that can come off. Check it out! I bet you find socks.
They also get sucked out in the spin cycle in the washer. I toured a waste water treatment plant once and saw masses of them. Their were socks and condoms everywhere! It was pretty nasty.

Yes we all have one. Put them in a sock ball before loading them in the washer. Turn them inside out so that when you put them in a sock ball the dirty side will be washed.
