Do you stay in a house or a apartment complex ? If in a apartment complex ask the land lord to service the door and explain to him what the problem is. Now if you stay in a house after you have been very nice to stop slammining the doors just one day go over an ask in a polite way I think there may be something wrong with your doors because when you close them they sound really loud. Can I be of some asistant to help fix them?

You could offer to buy them an automatic door closer, but I doubt they would accept. The problem is not the door, it is the people. They don't care about it and they don't care that you find it irritating.

Most laws are lax on this issue. Even the ones that could help you are too hard to enforce. Among other things, you would need a police officer to sit there with a special sound meter. They won't do that.

If it is really that bad, the only remedy is civil court. Even then, they will probably retaliate.

My advice, do whatever you need to be able to live with it. Sorry, been there, done that.

Point a set of speakers in their direction and crank up some Wagner.

Any of the female vocal parts from The Ring cycle would be good.

Loud. Very loud. Early is nice as well. Very early.

Loud and long enough that they complain to you or call the cops.

Then make it very clear why you are doing it. If they stop, you stop.

Rinse and repeat as needed.

Many medical plans include coverage for treatment of the insane. If the deductible is too high, you might contact the local health department and ask if there is a program to help defray the cost. It is a treatable condition, and i recommend you get help for it rather than let it go.

I had this same problem at an apt. -- they'd slam the door and it would shake my entire apt.
I hate these types of jerks -- they're the same jerks who tailgate and change lanes without signaling, effing aholes.
Here's what you do:
Every time they slam their door, do something equally loud and obnoxious in retalitaion, like lighting a firecracker or yelling "quiet!" really loudly.
These types of jerks don't care about anyone but themselves, so good luck.

My neighbor in our condo did this, his slamming would actually jiggles our plants until they came off the shelves. I invited the condo pres. over one day, while she was here, he had the day off and, went back and forth between the pool. After an hour she saw what we were going through and sent them a letter. It cured them, but, we got a lot of rude stares for awhile.
