As for the first answer, forget him. Ex-felon voting is a good thing to me, but only when looking at the severity of the felony. See I would feel comfortable having a person that got convicted of a minor crime voting. But not someone who had committed a severe crime. Although, that is not really fair because the person could actually have turned their lives around by the time the sentence was over...
Oh and just for the first answerer, info, since he wants to say ex-felons don't get hired, White ex-felons get a job 41% more frequently than African males who have never been to jail. Chew on that for a little while OK.

felons should be able to vote just like anyone else they are human beings, just like anybody else that lives in the same society as us, under the same conditions, they are exspected to grow just like some one without a record once they are free so why shouldn't there voice be herd. Felon doesen't mean awful it's a category that ranges within your crime..You can become a felon an never hurt a soul.. steal or anything else think about it!!!
An NO I'm not a felon, an have yet to been charged with anything thank you very much..
And I'd let em vote an work for me if they were Right for the job!

I am against it.
1. Few felons "change their lives."
2. If you owned a business, would you hire a felon? Honestly?
3. Democrats push the idea of felons voting because they (correctly) assume that they will benefit at election time.

Government is violating the Constitution and declaration of independence of the U.S. by not allowing them to vote .After they have paid their debt to society . They are to have the rights of all citizens restored . No person has the right to take an-others right to vote from them . They still have to pay taxes don't they This is taxation with out representation .One of the reasons fought revolution to be free . That gives every person an equal right to change their life around .With out penalizing them for their past .By not restoring a persons rights after they pay their debt to society makes any and all felonies a life sentence .

I think that it should depend on what their felony is about. If it does not harm the goverment then I think that they should be able to vote. Like the ones that are felons for stupid stuff they should be able to vote. We have a right to give an opinion about what we think.

In California a felon who is no longer in prison or on parole can vote. It seems to work OK here.

I think they should be allowed to vote once they are out of prison. You've paid your debt to society. I think it marginalizes a portion of the population that is already pretty marginalized and needs a reason to get involved and feel a part of the government and political process.

There are some really funny and really heartless answers here. If you are a U.S. citizen, you deserve a right to vote. It's not like the criminal element is going to be able to band together and elect anyone worse than we already have!

It is a horrible idea. When you commit a felony, you lose certain rights. By committing a crime, you tacitly accept the punishment and the loss of rights and standing in society. You don't want to lose those rights? You want to get a "good" job? Don't commit a crime in the first place.
