i mean, honestly, what difference does it make if its real or not (though i do not see how anybody can deny it.) why is it going to hurt anybody to live cleaner lives, drive cleaner cars? is it truely due to the oil companies not wanting competition? how much is it really going to hurt your lives to toss aside the big SUVs and get a cleaner hybrid car? hey, it even saves you a fortune on gas. and so what if we make our factories follow stricter standards on pollution. even if you dont believe we are warming the globe, we still create too much smog which is bad for us, and pollute our rivers and lakes beyond help.

and another thing...why take the chance? do you really want to wait until the ice caps completely melt and half the world is under water before you do something? why not start now? even if the scientists are wrong, its not like you have lost anything. but if they are right and you do nothing, our world will be forever changed. i dont understand the controversy

I'm not denying Global Warming, but I'm in the school of thought that states it's a natural phenomenon. With that said I also wouldn't mind living in a cleaner environment, but it's not the cars or SUV's that are causing the worst pollution. It's the Semi's that burn diesel that are the worst culprits on the road. And I know they are working on cleaning up the fuel or better muffler systems or something to make the emissions from Semi's less harmful.

As for emissions from factories they have cleaned up there acts a lot already and are still working on it. So people really do need to trust the private sector a lot more and stop expecting the government to do everything.

In the long run we can't stop Global Warming, because it's a natural cycle, just like the changing of the seasons and the world has been warming up, since the last Ice Age.

But we can and we will live in a cleaner environment, but it takes time to change how people live. It's not like the average Joe can go out and buy a new car that runs on cleaner fuel. Or the diesel trucks can change their emission systems over night.

So it's time for citizens to be more patient and trustful of corporations to do the right things, because they are.

If you know of one that's not then target them specifically, but don't lump them all together.

I don't know, that's a very good question. I had an argument with an idiot this summer at a party about global warming. By the time we were done he was backed in a corner and admitting that MAYBE it's true, and then changed his tactic to "who cares anyway even if it is true." This guy was someone everyone at the party had just met, and someone that everyone was avoiding by the end of the party. He was an arrogant fool who thought he knew everything about anything, when actually he knew nothing at all. One of those contrary individuals who will claim the opposite of what is already known to be true simply to be a **** disturber. All of the people I have encountered online who blather on about how global warming is a myth seem to fall in the same category. There will always be people who can look at a blue sky and argue that it's really orange. One of their favorite points is to bring up natural earth cycles and how this is just another one. They somehow always fail to note that it isn't the cycle itself that is telling scientists global warming is upon us, it's the never before seen or recorded acceleration of changes that has alerted us to what is really happening. This guy at the party, who said all the things that most people say on here who claim global warming is a lie, actually told me "Why should I care, it isn't going to happen in my lifetime anyway." I asked him if he didn't give a damn about his kids or his grandchildren and he replied that it was their problem, not his. Even scientists who opposed the idea of global warming for years and years have come to admit it is indeed happening. The vast majority of global weather scientists agree on global warming. But I guess when you have an attitude that you know it all, who needs science huh?

we lack the power to destroy the earth. the debate should be framed as who do you want telling you what you can do yourself or the un United Nations. Global warming has not been even proven because we dont have datamuch beyond 1910 as to the temperature rainfall and duration of cycles in the weather. the advocates of global warming are the same ones who cried that mankind was destroying the enviroment. and i got a beaver pond that i cant drain because it is a "wetland" and i can remember twenty years ago grass and cows eating that grass to provide for the family where there is now water a foot deep. but it is a wetland.

remember the lefts favorite lines. Your taking away our freedoms. If I want to drive an SUV or fly in a gulf stream jet (John Kerry does both) then that is my right. and its not a denying of global warming its the denial that people are causing the increase. its cyclical and has been worse on this planet multiple times without people on it. that has been proven.... global warming caused by humans hasnt so I go with what has been proven. 300 million years ago most water on the planet dissappeared and what is believed to be our ancestors were forced underground for thousands of years do to the heat. They got water from underground roots. The beginning of the rain forrests started growing which reversed the process. Mother nature adapts

From what I have seen the Hybrid cars are worthless, and over priced...we all know it would not cost much to make a clean efficient vehicle that all Americans can afford, the average american cannot afford a hybrid.
Look at the cost of a florescent light bulb compared to a regular bulb.....its the same O same O, now why would these oil companies want us to conserve.

Conservatives say they drive SUV's because its safer in an accident, if everyone followed that thought, we will have brick homes going down the HWY's

Another idiot that assumes that humans are the cause of global warming. I'm sick of this. What makes you think that because the weather patterns have changed slightly that your stupid car is the cause of it. Just because you can't afford a hummer doesn't mean you have to link your class envy with a global weather problem.

If everyone cut back on fossil fuels, there would be less pollution. Yet Albert Gore would still insist that he can save the world and remain popular if he can continue to convince others that he knows more than the MAJORITY of the world's scientists.

I don't think anyone is debating whether or not there is global warming. That's already been decided and agreed upon. The divisions come as to the cause of Global warming. The credible scientist are going with cyclic weather pattern.
