or do you just prefer to sit back in the shadows and watch everyone else take the plunge. i like kareoke on the whole, saves just propping up the bar all night. i have heard some very good singers, but equally there have been occasions when i believed i should have covered my ears. i am not sure which of those catagories i would fall into. but what say you concerning kareoke?

I've gotten up many times. The only real problem I have with karaoke is with all the people singing, good or bad, I have trouble hearing a particular song in my head. If I can't hear it in my head, I won't sing it. It drives me nuts!
But yes, it is fun. There are times that I'll just sit in the background just because I don't feel like singing. Or when the guy running it decides he's going to put pictures of EVERYONE on his website. I don't do pictures...

Yeah, it's fun. Like you said, if you're at a bar that doesn't have a band or anything, it's better than just sitting there staring at the bartender or whatever.
Sometimes the bad singers can be just as entertaining as the good ones.
Just one thing - every karaoke host has to get rid of American Pie from the playlist!

I'm a DJ. and i run a disco and a karaoke. i hate karaoke with a passion. people actually go to about 3 or 4 pubs a night just to sing the same song. they are very sad indeed. i don't mind the ones who just get up 4 a bit of fun. but some people take it to seriously. and more than that, every woman who has been sh*t on, thinks they have the right to sing " i will survive " i have now taken this song out of my collection.

Done it just the twice. Linekers Bar, Lanzarote 1995 singing Trailer for Sale or Rent and a couple of years later in Kinross singing Hi Ho Silver Lining. Can't sing for toffees.

i love being centre of attention and singing on kareoke.
i just wont go up first!
i never sing the same song and i always sing upbeat party type songs.
its a bit of fun and there is always someone who is worse than you.
one guy used to sing a different elvis song everyweek but he was the worst singer ever and the kareoke always seemed to get a power cut half way thru his song to make him stop.

I enjoy watching others sing. I don't sing because if I did, the entire place would leave, I am that bad.

I cannot sing, and would never embarrass myself or anyone with me by doing so in public, having said that, when I'm drunk I do like to listen to music and often find myself singing along, but I would never do it so that only I could be heard cos that would just be horrendous.
