As soon as Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo release a new console. They are already looking to the future for their next consol release.
At this point most gamers can't see beyond the "next generation" of gamming, you have to admit it's pretty hard to imagine what a Playstation 4 will be capable of.
will it plug directly into my brain? Giving me seductive dreams and little slices of heaven, just like little angels shaking their asses over me sprinkling fairy dust that was bestowed by St.Gabrile?
Or will I just end up with another over-priced game system? Will there even be a playstation 4? Whatever the case may be, we know something is coming.
So if you were to imagine yourself playing a playstation 4......how would it go?

i would imagine a completly virtual reality gaming system! it would be to the point where it comes with a small tred mill and a complete body outfit and when some one casts fire...the suit gets warm and when you're ko'd the suit shuts off. it would be almost as if they are using REAL people...to the point where it may even be real people! but not the cheesy kind like the old skool MK! it would be the best gaming ever made, and eventually we will all be but a game! because everrything will be so real and so life like that we cannot tell the difference between reality or fiction any more and we will all live our lives in perfection through virtual reality!

Although the games I play are on PC, this year, I started looking at the new crop of machines (PS3, Wii, X360) with the possibility of getting one for the kiddies, now that they're at an age when they can enjoy such games.
Insofar as Sony is concerned, I am not interested in their boxes because of the whole rootkit virus (see http://boingboing.net/2005/11/14/sony_anticustomer_te.html) that they deliberately infected a batch of audio CD's with. Sony has yet to apologize for this incident.
Microsoft. Ahh... Microsoft. Nice machine, but the games seem to be twice as expensive as everyone else's. I don't like Microsoft for reasons that will be obvious to anybody who's read anything about them over the past twelve years.
That leaves the Nintendo Wii. It's low price leaves me wondering if I'm getting as solid a product as the competition, however from what I've heard, it's a solid contender. I would expect to see in a 2008 version the most innovation in the Wii, simply because everybody else will be busy designing a flying mouse (Wii-mote?) for their systems.

Well when the PS1 came out they went straight to the drawing boards for the PS2. It takes many years to create a system and they are always brainstorming new ideas for the next generation after a certain stage in the current system production is completed.
The future of gaming is going to be online, episodes almost. You get a new entry each week, month, possibly a day. You order or possibly get it for free. It will be a different world of gaming. But that is years off, enjoy the new systems while they are out and do not worry about the next-gen yet. That is what the engineers, programmers, and other employees at the companies are paid to do.

Don't you remember a few years back, the commercial for PS2? It started out with a fake commercial for PS13 or something like that and had all the capabilities of the holodeck from Star Trek The Next Generation.

Pfft....don't think all that crap. Sony is virtually broke,and PS3 is crippled with the aid of Xbox 360's and Wii's might. except there have been 10 extra video games like Killzone 2,PS4 will come out in 2010.

The graphics would be so realistic and look like your playing through someone's eye. And hopefully, trees will not look retarded. There will be plenty of stuff to do on the controller and there will be a log on it. The PS4 will have the power to go on the internet and be portable.

well, the 4 is an unlucky number in Japan so Sony would likely call it something else when 4 rolls around.
