No offence, but I heard a commercial on the radio yesterday that "buzz" driving was drunk driving. Well with that logic, anything that distracts you which cuts down your reaction time is "drunk driving." Like cellphones, eating while driving, talking, being tired...

No. The cell phone can be a distraction, but so can anything. A lot depends on the person using it. The benefits of a cell phone outweigh the cons (distraction).

Btw, to whoever said texting serves no purpose; texting serves the same purpose as calling the person. The difference is that you don't use your minutes.

It depends on the user. Some people use their phones simply to communicate or play games when they're bored, etc., others use them to the point that their other priorities are altogether ignored. It's not always the cellphone, it's the cellphone user....

Depends on the person using it. Some people know how to use them in moderation and not allow them to become a distraction.

Some times they are distractingly, but they can also be useful.
The Distraction I Know are:
-Bothersome in Important Meetings (i see it)
-Ringtones (may be annoying)
-Vibrating continuoulsy.
-Prank Calls
-Dristracting others in school.
-etc...

The Usefulness of the Cell Phones are:
-The can save your life in a fatal area.
-Good for contacting for family
-Ringtones(may be your taste)
-MP3's (not all of them)
-Live TV (not in all)
-Important Calls.
-etc...

-- So far these are all the reasons i know.

Sometimes cell phones can distract you, like when you are doing something very important and your cell phone rings. But mostly cell phones can be useful.

yes. i think cell phones are only useful when you have to call someone because texting is just to chat and listening to music on your phone and all those other things aren't useful. it's just for entertaintmen. it also depends on the person using which cell phone.
