We are really good at winning wars....we could just nuke them. Unfortunately, too many liberals abound, so we can't unleash the full force that we are capable of.

American Revolution - Won.
War of 1812 - Won - not truly decisive.
Mexican American War - Won.
United States Civil War - Won (we are still one country).
Spanish American War - Won.
World War I - Won.
World War II - Won.
Korean War - Part of the UN - Draw - Technically still going on.
Vietnam War (really a police action) - lost - but not by the military.
Desert Storm - Won.
Operation Enduring Freedom (Police Action) - Ongoing police action.
Iraqi Freedom (aka Desert Storm II) - Ongoing police action.
As you can see we won far more than we lost. The only one that we really lost is Vietnam. The others are still going on, and militarily we have achieved the objectives. In Vietnam, if the military had been allowed to press its advantage after the Tet Offensive (which was a massive defeat for the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong), it is likely that the US would chalk Vietnam up as a win.

Ok, we did not come back from Vietnam with our tails between our legs, Iraq..we went in and secured the areas we needed. Most of the time we are helping the little worthless nations like France, by the way wasn't there a couple wars oh World war 1 & 2 when we kicked the **** out of Italy, and the other Axis powers. Hmmm kinda weird. Lets not talk abou military muscle, lets talk about dental hygene, you brits, and french and other european nations need to understand that you cant brush your teeth with suger and rinse with soda.

America has won most of the wars we've been involved in. Now, when you count Vietnam, Iraq, and depending on perspective, Afghanistan, most of America's recent wars have been less then decisive. I would say this is mostly because of less-then-brilliant leadership and public sentiment. The masses argue over wars, rather than supporting one cause. However, we should never forget the wars that have happened in the past, and the lives lost to make those wars victories.

First, the only war we've "lost" was the war in Vietnam. I would say that by defeating Iraq's military and toppling Saddam that Iraq has been successful.
Secondly, we have a harder and harder time at war because of an increasingly liberal media that thinks it knows how to run a war better than the military does. War has become "feminized" to the point that if a single civillian dies then we become the barbarians.
Finally, we generally play by the rules, while our opponents do not.

Wars are getting messier and less clear-cut; Vietnam was a "police action" that engulfed the US in endless guerilla warfare, and the official justification for invading Iraq was largely unsupported at the outset. I think the US has simply forgotten how to properly choose its conflicts and the level of its involvement.

We are very good at winning wars. We are terrible at police actions. Americans are under the impression that most people in the world want to live in a democracy. We haven't gotten it through our minds that, for the most part, people of other countries would rather be led around by the nads, told exactly what to do by some dick-tater or pra-feet so that they don't have to think for themselves. Once we quit trying to save people from themselves and just go in, kick as*, take what we want and get out, we'll be just fine. Thanks for the concern.

Your question, has little credit to realism, we are not an agressive nation seeking to rule the world, and slow to anger, but quick to defend the homeland, remember pearl harbor?
