I am in love with a college professor from my University. He is 54 years old and married for 30 years. He is white and I am black. It started one day when we had to choose someone to speak to our class for career day and I got him to come in because he is a college professor, an attorney, and a judge. Upon interviewing him in his office things got kind of intimate between us. Not kissing just a profound emotional attachment. Each time I went to his office afterward he would stop who he was talking to just to talk to me. He would even peak through my classroom door at me and stare. On the day for him to come to speak to my class he stared at me most of the class while giving his lecture. The class professor noticed and mentioned to him that she teaches a class at night with his wife. His expression changed to sadness. Shortly after I placed a letter under his office door & told him I am in love with him but because of his marriage and career obligation that I would love him from afar.

I respect your action of placing the letter. Now, if the professor comes forward and wishes to continue the relationship, he should leave his wife. Getting involved in an affair with a married man will only produce pain for many including yourself.
You have learned an important lesson in that love is not always equal and a life-long marriage is not always the result of love.

Ya Gotta " just walk away Renee" You are responding to the attentions of an accomplished and experienced older man. There is nothing for you here but pain and heartache. Yes, it seems as if he is special, and his accomplishments may be, but he is (still) a man, who is married, who is older, who has tons of commitments, who is in a professional position, and who has an ethical obligation on so many levels to stay UNinvolved with you!
It is very seductive to have such a person show interest in you, but this can only lead to disaster, for you and for him.
Do whatever you can to stay away from this entanglement. Go to movies, go out with friends, take small trips, go whre he will NOT be, read Yahoo Answers, study, etc. Best of luck.

Sometimes young girls develop crushes on men that they see as authority figures.

I think you acted very maturely in telling him in a letter that you will love him from afar so as not to break up his marriage. Now you have to move on with your own life. Keep yourself busy and believe it or not, he will soon fade to just a memory.

I say you should hook up. It's every 54 year old college professor dream to sleep with a black chick.

Keep away from him as much as possible. Find another man to love who can be yours. Sounds dangerous your feelings. He has some too
