They thought Bush was going to do their bidding with his "high morality" and frequents talks with "God" whoever his god may be (I think it is the horned one). I know a lot of churchgoers who were made to feel mislead by him. I don't think they will be as trusting of another politician again, on either side. Besides, Politics and Religion just do not mix.

No. They have finally wised up to the fact that the reps will NOT work tirelessly to ban abortion or gay marriage. And as a result, they didn't show up to the polls , like they have in the past. But I'm sure the reps will still use the 'party of morality' crap again, to get elected. But I believe their base has shifted to the hispanics, who can still be appeased by the 'anti abortion' message, and the lack of accountabliltiy for illegals, perpetuated by the GOP. And since that is the fastest growing segment of the population (hispanics) that is a pretty sound poilitical move.

What did they ask for last 2 elections. Wanting federal money to help the poor within their own organization.... We all know that the Gov should be in charge of ALL welfare because they never squander anything. Wake up if that was the extent of the corruption in government, we'd be lucky.
Grow up and become a republican. ALL GOVERNMENT SUCKS, just choose the side that doesn't swallow(can you saay Monica)

The dems went from 15% of the evangelical vote in 04 to 45% in Nov.

Pretty much EVERYONE is learning that the GOP is the culture of lies and failures!

I think that the leaders of these evangelical groups understand that noone will honestly give them everything that they want, but maybe they can get together with someone and find out what they can bargain to get would be better.

There are a number of such candidates - former Senator Rick Santorum has been mentioned a couple places. However, none of them are electable.

Romney is trying to show evangelicals he shares their "values". He met with Jerry Falwell to talk about religion and for Falwell to learn about Mormonism. McCain has been pandering to evangelicals and don't be suprised if Giuliani starts kissing *** too.
