I went to the Dr. yesteday after calling that morning and asking for a blood test and telling the nurse that only the early tests like first response and clear blue were coming up positive. I sat in this room for 2 hours before the doctor came in. He told that the urine test was negative so I explained to him how sensitive the test had to be. I asked him how sensitive they're tests were. He didn't know. I told him that my breast size had doubled and he examined them for cancer! Without another female in the room. He wasted too much time and the lab was closed when I demanded a blood test. Why would I have 2 positive HPT's and a negative one at the doctors?? And why would he need to feel my nipple during an exam? I did the urine test after 5pm there. With all the water I drink and the fact I pee every ten minutes why would he do that?? I'm so confused...

Doctors usually just give you a urine test because they assume it will show up. It is very rare to have a false negative, but it is much more rare to have a false positive. He was probably just doing a search for lumps on your breast. If he makes you uncomfortable, you should go see a female physician. I had a female OB. She was very compassionate. Take another test if you want. Then call another doctor and tell her that you've had three positive tests and one negative. Tell them you want a blood test to be for sure. I know it's frustrating, but pregnancy feels like it lasts forever. Try and relax. Congratulations!

You are not supposed to get false positives with any pregnancy test, and the urine test at most ob's will not show a positive for a couple weeks after a missed period. The most accurate test is a blood test, and no doctor should do a breast or pelvic exam without someone else in the room. I would find another ob possible one with a midwife. Midwifes can be wonderfull during a pregnancy and usually give you a lot more personal attention. I would ask the new doctors office about your doctor's exam, and report him to the authorities if they say it was inapporiate, so this does not happen to some another unfortunate woman. Good Luck.

That doesn't make sense and the dr. should definitely know how sensitive their urine tests are.....you need to find another ob/gyn who will take you seriously and I agree someone should have been in the room for an exam...there doesn't seem to have been any need to do a breast exam on you. Unless you say you felt a lump or it is time for your annual, they don't usually do that.
Those early response tests are pretty accurate. Wait a couple of days and take another one, then get to the lab when you can to have the blood test done. I know it's hard to wait but you may have to because of the New Years holiday. I also think the water you drank could affect the test...that's why it seems to be most accurate when you test first thing in the morning before you've had anything to drink. Good luck to you...

A lot of Dr.s won't do a blood test until after a missed period.

If you are in the early stages of pregnancy all the water you are drinking could dilute the hormone in your urine, which is why the Dr.s test cam up negative.

When Dr.s do a breast exam for cancer they often squeeze the nipple to see if any fluid comes out. Certain cancers can produce liquid discharge from the breasts. It was only precaution.

Give it a few days, take another test and if it's possible take it to the Dr. and ask for a quantitative blood test (that will tell you how much of the hormone you have in your body)

Good Luck!

How late are you??
You have been put in a difficult position. at my doctors when I phoned to say I had a positive hpt I was given an appointment to see the nurse. they didn't do another test. I do know that every doctors is different. If you feel violated and you are not happy I would call te surgery as soon as they are open and ask to speak to the practice manager. I would ask there procedures with regards to examinations and chaperone's. Take it from there. If you do feel too upset to call them, ask a friend or relative to do it for you.

If your doctor makes you uncomforatable... find a new doctor. If you are pregnant, there will be examinations that will feel far more 'violating'. The urine test at the doctor is essentially a HPT.

You need to call the doctors office and complain to someone higher than him. A supervisor maybe, then you need to find a different doctor.

If you HPT come up positive, then you are pregnant.
There is no such thing as a false positive.

Yeah he will need to do a blood test.

He examined your breasts becuase your nipples change if you're pregnant and get darker. That is all.
