I really liked this movie but honestly I don't know why ... I just like it !!! ... but the question is did you get the story what were they hinting about?

Personally I hate Nicholas Cage but I was actually able to stomach him in that movie. I liked it. I especially loved how people were always throwing food at him, I nearly fell of the couch laughing about the scene with food just flying at his face (I'm even laughing thinking about it). Mostly I like the oddness of the film. It was different and cool. I guess the theme could be interpreted different ways: 1. Career vs Family 2. Family in today's society 3. Generational differences 4. Death and Moving on. It's kind of a "you pick the message" type of thing. What I get may not be what you get.
