I live in Indiana. We have the same weather forecast as Illinois. I can get to "Chitown" in 30 mins!. (Anyway) the weather is not bad. At this writing,it is now 42 degrees. There is no snow, and we have'nt had any yet. (Yes!). It is expected to rain on New Years Eve,so bring a umbrella. Because it is also expected to be in the "50's",the weather usually drops during nighttime. So wear your skirt, and party!. Just bring along the umbrella, and a nice warm coat, just in case. (Smile). I hope you'll have fun in Chicago!. There are so many places to go!
(PS) Go to: weather.com and you will be able to look at the forecast in Illinois for the entire week.

Unless you're inside, a skirt is probably a bad idea. It's much less cold than usual here in Chicago - it's supposed to be in the 30's and 40's over the weekend, and normally it'd be in the 20's - but it's still going to be cold.

Honey, I've lived there! It can get extremely cold!
About wearing a skirt: When I went to Disney World New Year's Eve in shorts (only cuz it had Mickey on it) I felt cold so you can imagine Chicago!

It's mild and no snow is forecast. You can definitely wear a skirt, even a short one. So far no flight delays due to weather.
I'm not even buttoning my coat or wearing gloves yet.
In most homes it's pretty dry, so bring a moisturizer. My skin is so dry now.

Its unseasonably mild this year. The wind off the lake can get quite cold, so, bring warm clothes.I don't think they are calling for snow anytime soon, haven't heard anything. But, come prepared. Weather around here can change very suddenly. Have a Great time and have a safe and happy holiday.
