It´s my girlfriends birthday on new years eve, and as it´s only just gone Christmas, what can I buy?

Take her somewhere nice. Get a room at a fancy hotel. Have a special dinner ordered, deco the room before you bring her. Put out candles, flowers, bubble bath. Then spend the night making her feel special. She will remember that long after any gift. That and letting her know that she is more to you then getting drunk with buddies to celebrate the new year she will love it. You could also get your picture taken with her and put it in a nice frame. Girls really find that special.

Take her on a weekend vacation. Maybe a bed and breakfast and some sight seeing. Spend the new year in a different city. See how other places do New Year's. Have fun and take lots of pics so she has something to she can share with others if she wants.

It's not her fault she was born so close to Christmas. Buy her the same thing you would have bought had it been months from now. What does she like - books, movies, music? Get a voucher or treat her to a show if you're in London. Buy your tickets in Leicester Square - you'll spend a bit less there.
