Jesus's birth was in the spring, but when Christianity was formed, the receding religion was the Roman mythos. They celebrated a festival called the Saturnalia at about the same time as Christmas is now. Christian leaders at the time needed to draw people away from the Roman religions and toward Christianity. It would be in their best interests to have a "competing" holiday.

Nowadays though, Christmas is hardly considered Christian. Easter was always more important, but Christmas has been taken over as sort of a Hallmark Holiday. So for the sake of dignity, it was probably best that it wasn't actually Christ's birthday.

First, nobody told you that you had to celebrate Christmas, that's your choice.
Second, most people know that Jesus wasn't actually born on Christmas Day, no where near it actually.
Christmas marked the Winter Solace in ancient times. Christians used the celebration of the Winter Solace as a guise to celebrate the birth of Jesus, because back then people weren't so free to celebrate whatever they wanted.
The tradition basically stuck, and Christmas is celebrated on Dec. 25th

Christmas is not a lie. No, Jesus wasn't born December 25, but, the reason for the season is to celebrate His birth.

If you and anyone else chooses not to celebrate, fine. But, leave those who choose to alone.

That's pretty old news.

The holiday was placed at the same time as the winter solstice to overshadow pagan celebrations and to attempt to convert.
