I was recently caught shoplifting at Dillard's. They didnt press charges or even alert the police. I am 16 years old.

The only thing they did was make me sign a trespass warning, stating that i could never go back to Dillard's, because i was banned.

They asked for my social security number, and i gave them it. Why would they need my social security number, if it wasnt going on my records?

Is any of this going to go on my permanent records for businesses and schools to see?

If the police were not notified then there is no record of your theft as far as police and future employers are concerned.

However asking for your social security number is very odd. If your parents are already aware of what happened I suggest you tell them so they can find out why Dillards needed your SS#.

It ensures their watching for the right person. Many people have the same name. Many store chains actually distribute this information to their sister stores so they know to watch for you. Another offense and your going to jail.
