White lies are lies which do not hurt or harm anyone or which makes no loss to anyone, but to save some one from some danger, to save some one's life or just as a joke.
For example, if you say, "I met Amitabh Bachchan on the road yesterday and he gave me lift upto my home because I helped him in getting rid of some robbers." ,then this will be the white lie, coz its not harming anyone!

The darkest lies are the white lies..... a case where the liar doesn't even care that his lie is unguarded and people will know he lied. In other words, white lies are those which make no attempt to cover up. Opposite of naked truth.

I believe the statement goes back to the days of slavery where the whites would lie...
in this case, the 'white lies' were deemed acceptable and small since they were being told by the white people.
Compared to black lies, which were quite severe, white lies were a way for people to exaggerate or cover something up without question.
The whole concept of slavery was racist in my eyes...

White lies generally refer to small lies that the person thinks won't hurt anyone. For example if someone asks if they look nice in that dress...and maybe you think they dont, a white lie would be telling them you think they look great. It may not be exactly the truth but it helps you from hurting thier feelings.

White lies are these small things you get to say that are not really true but are virtually harmless to anybody.
Most of white lies are said on social themes: You look great today, you're so cute, dear, and all that jazz. You don't think a word of what you say, but it sounds good to the person who hears that.

A white lie is a small lie, meant not to deliberately hurt someone, where a blatant lie you know that someone is lying and they don't want to admit they are wrong so they lie about it.
