And the neighbors want to have a snowball fight..should I soak my snowballs in water so they freeze or just stick with the rock in the middle approach?

Throw fireballs instead.. Gas on the rocks, or whatever your gonna use, which won't melt, after setting it on fire, throw em.. Make sure their backs are turned and you yell 'Cacth!' when you do throw..
