Friend of the West, bastion against Islamic fundamentalism and ruler of a country destroyed on the basis of falsified evidence.
His place in the gallows queue should be along way behind the thieves, liars and murderers Blair and Bush.

Wow, a rotten apple. I know we're supposed to be polite and all, but calling Saddam a rotten apple is like calling Bush the best president we'll ever have. Ask the 65,000 Kurds with skin and respiratory diseases or the families of the 5000 he ordered killed with chemical weapons if it will solve anything. And if it doesn't solve anything, at least he will never have the chance to harm anyone else, and whoever thinks he's in a position to do the same will think twice before actually doing it.

In a Muslim/Arabic culture (the two are not the same, necessarily, but are, practically) yes, execution will solve things.
If a man is convicted of murder in a Muslim country, which is almost impossible to do (Islam is very strict about how many witnesses one must have to be proven guilty, and only certain people can be witnesses.) and if it is proven that the murder or murders DID NOT ADVANCE ISLAM'S CAUSE, (which in Islam is the highest, and sole, moral guideline) then that person MUST be put to death.
If a Muslim/Arabic government fails to execute a prisoner convicted of murder, then the government is considered to be weak, and (in the eyes of the people) no longer favored by Allah.
I would encourage everyone who wants to know more about Islam to read my sources. (I've done some extensive study in the past few years...)

No. Bush and Blair have a lot to answer for the carnage and illegal war in Iraq. A war which far exceeds any illegal acts carried out by Saddam.

Yes and no. But at least send him to go be with his sons....in hell. LOL Good question and only time will tell. I mean, did everyone think that the middle east would turn out the way it did when Prez Bush marched our troops in just to overthrow Saddam's regime? No nukes, and there was at least order! Look at it now!

As I believe in capital punishment for horrendous crimes I think it right that he suffer the ultimate punishment.
Neither should he be regarded as a martyr, a true martyr is one who gives his/her life for a cause but in doing so does not cause the death or suffering of another.
As for whether it will solve anything, that is not the point, if someone is willing to commit crimes of this enormity they need to know that they may well pay the ultimate price for their wickedness.

I say we do a Sin City job on him. Tie him to an olive tree in the desert. Apply tournaquets to his wrists and ankles. Lob his hands and feet off, and watch the desert hyenas and coyotes close in. Tape the whole thing and broadcast on Al-Jazeera.

Killing him might make would-be dictators like Chavez in Venezuela think twice about abusing the power given to them by their people. More likely it will empower Islamic fascists to take control of the country, if they haven't already. Say what you want about Saddam Hussein, but he kept those crackpots in check.

What is solved by killing him? Sure, no one will have to pay for his upkeep, or the constant guard on him. But it will not deter others from following in his footsteps. That is a proven fact - that the death penalty is NOT a deterent. So killing him is just a primitive act of vengeance. And, by the way, not supported by most countries outside the United States.

I think he should be sodomised repeatedly to teach him a lesson he will never forget and then he should be forced to marry Liza Minnelli, after that I would say he will be happy to be executed
