I've noticed this especially on this website - why are people so racist? What's the deal? Why is there this need to spew this ignorant hate on a website, most of which I doubt people would have the courage to say to a minority's face. Please explain.

I am not getting upset for people saying how they feel. I just believe that if they truly feel that way then they should have the courage to say it aloud and not while hiding behind their computers.

I'm glad you mentioned this because I thought I was one of the few people who do notice the racist things being said here on a daily basis. And yes, this feature promotes freedom of speech and what not but I feel that if people are bold enough to be actively racist, they should be bold enough to reveal their email address. These racist people are nothing but cowards hiding behind avatars and ugly pictures. Thank you for bringing this issue into focus.

Ya u said it .... i have also noticed it. whats in the mind will be translated to the real life. and so is the promotion of word-of-mouth... The people are imbibing wrong values by showing the feelings of racism in this era where mobile technologies had made the time-space diffrence as a meaningless one. so people's thought should be proper then only their deeds also can be expected as good...

I guess that's the whole point that no one knows your true identity and you can get away with saying whatever you want. Most people prefer to take the cowards way out since they know that if they say what they're thinking out loud people will look at them differently.

I agree....I usually see at least 2 or 3 questions a day about gay people, minorities....ect.......I wish we can just keep these comments to ourselves and talk about different issues......this is a very useful way to get connected to others.....too bad it's negative sometimes..........We should try to be positive...some people are really reaching out ...

People, in general, ARE very racist. This site should be no different.

(Well, it SHOULD be, but you can't expect it to reflect anything other than the general population.)

You answered your own question, people say things here to are too cowardly to say in real life, they feel comfortable here because it is anonymous.

It anonymous, so people can reveal their true feelings without repercussions. So don't get pissy with people for being honest about how they feel.
