1)lack of infra structure
2)no tourism offices open on china
3)rotten roads
4)no proper promotion from tourism ministry of india
5)even for a plane ticket it costs above $500 wherheas in other south east asian countries such as in thailand the whole package for one week including ticket is available for $400
6)Egg and Chicken situation..!! I mean there are no frequent flights to and fro from india and also there are not many passengers to fly to india..

Because India's tourism infrastructure isn't 'polished'... there's still a feeling that you can get taken at any moment as soon as you get off the airplane - much like New York City, circa late 70s, early 80s.

strict in visa policies??you mustt be joking!!!You get 6 months multiple entry in 1 day..that is very very easy,then you can just leave for a week and get another 6 months...do you know what you are talking about TODD?I have been 7 x

.horrific yes ,dirty yes ,noisy yes ,dangerous yes!
But you come with me to india..and I will show you things you never can imagne..a little tip!
last year I went to mindboggling bhutan did the stunningly beautifull darjeeling trek.;just me my tent and a porter,went to tribalfestivals the great parties of goa,trekking beyo,nd the highest mountain road in the world with wild camels in a desert at 4000 meters,I stayed with headhunters in nagaland saw the sun-moon worshipfestivals of the Apani tribe,went meditating surrounded by burning bodies in varanasi,learned yoga..I have been in india about7X 8 months..I ve never ever been bored!
Ok the hotels are crap true..go to an ashram!
They alow foreigners are very cheap and many times they are really well maintained and beautifull!
If you give india a change ..mother india will show you everything heaven and hell!
Ok not much nightlife there.;but hey just pop into nepal and put on your dancing shoes and be prepared to become insanly drunk
I love india..and hate it..but I love it much more
remember this country takes courage and the more you get off the beaten track the more you will be revealed its unbelievable beauty and kindness of some people..relax ,shanti shanti!

Hmm.. lets see.. Disease, terrorism, severe poverty, garbage and trash everywhere you look....and to top that off they are very stict in their visa policies.....
