It is a router address; I expect it to be the default address of the router you are using for Internet connection.

This is an IP (Internet Protocol) address. Every network adapter in the world has an IP address for this how computers talk to each other instead of using "Bob's Computer" or "Yahoo Server 654932".
192.168.1.1 happens to be the default IP for every new network.
As for password and userid...those gain you access to the resources/files ON a computer...the IP address is the name OF a computer.

192.168.xxx.xxx range of addresses are set aside to only be used within a local area. They never go out onto the internet.
When you have a network device it is normally controlled by connecting to it over the network. A router normally uses address 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 When you enter that into your browser it will connect you to the router. Then using the browser page you can control the router.
Controlling the router means that you can
Provide a local DHCP
Direct the router on how to set up its security
For a wireless router establish a WEP or MAC filtering

It's and IP address. If you have a modem, I don't know if it works with all the brands but mine is Westell and if you type that address to your address bar and you click go it will tell you to the page where you can manage you internet connection and internet status, also set passwords. To access soe stuff you will need a user name and password so you can either use the one you use to login to your Internet Service's Website account or:
Username: admin
Password: password
Hope that helped, don't screw arround there you can mess up your settings and it's a pain in the *** to fix them back

That is usually the default router gateway address. It will depend on which router you are using as to what the default user\password names are. With Linksys it is admin\admin.

It's an IP address. It may or may not be relevant to your current network connection. Right now mine is 10.1.101.3.

hahaha 192.168.1.1 is your router's administration portal. and yes, it is beneficial in the sense that you can change your wifi settings, restart the router from the web interface, etc... you can't change your bandwidth, though. that can only be done on the isp's devices configurations.
