....that so many others feel that they must tell them to be "protected." Babies are a natural outcome of sex---with or without contraception. No form of contraception is 100% effective...heck, only a few forms of them are even contra-ceptive (prevent conception)!!!! Nobody did anything "wrong." Why do we see this "blame game" time and time again? Have we forgotten that sex is necessary to conceive babies and that babies are a "natural byproduct" of sex?

1. Shouldn't people be able to control themselves from having sex in the first place? Won't the lure of using a "contraceptive" discourage that kind of control?
2. My husband and I use NFP. The cervical mucus method is 97% effective by itself, the temperature charting method is 98% effective by itself according to PLANNED PARENTHOOD (http://www.plannedparenthood.org/birth-control-pregnancy/birth-control/fertility-awareness-based-methods.htm). Together, they are more than 99% effective. While it's true it requires times of abstinence (about 9-10 days per cycle during the fertile periods), this teaches couples to value their intimacy during sex more and it teaches men to respect their wives' bodies. Plus, it introduces no foreign chemicals to anyone's body. So, there are definately alternatives!

Using NFP, you can still have sex for pleasure without trying to conceive a baby! No problem!
Herpes and other STDs are risks for those who are not monogamous relationships. You decide whether or not to put yourself at risk for these diseases. Nobody forces this upon you. (And, obviously, in the case where someone WOULD force this upon you--namely, rape--you are absolutely justified in using condoms or other barrier methods. And, of course, rape is not about mutual sexual pleasure or intimacy!)
