You might need to check the labor laws that coincide with the state you reside in. Some states, you are at the employers mercy, (right to work) states such as Florida. As long as they abide by break limits that a person is entitled to. I think the standard is no more than a 16 hour day albeit with the entitled breaks and lunch. Some jobs are a 24 hour post. I work a 12 hour shift 5 days a week. I know it gets tiring. You should have inquired about the hours or schedule prior to acceptance of the position. Maybe they weasled the extra time in there on since you became hired. Just remember you were looking for a job when you found that one. You're going to find another. Good Luck and Merry New Year. If you call, call the Department of Labor, not the BBB. BBB is for consumers...

Was the employer up front about the hours? Do they have you on a "flex" schedule?
Unfortunately, there are some jobs that require these types of hours. Services jobs can be grueling. However, if you knew what you were getting into I'd say it is fair. If they led you to believe it was a 9 to 5 job and required you to start working these other hours without any sort of additional compensation then there is a problem.

It sounds to me like you got used to getting money for nothing from unemployment and once you had to work again you found it beneath you. I can't tell you how many help wanted signs I drive past each day and if you live in a place where the only job you could find was a seasonal job then you should relocate to a new town and get off your butt and put forth a little effort. The funny thing about jobs is they actually want you to work.

This was not a job it was kind of "slavery”, some people think if you work for them, you belong to them, if so they really have to pay you a lot of $$$$$.
I will suggest you call the labor dept in your area and find out if it was legal to overworked you.

An employer has to pay you overtime if they require you to work more than 8 hours a day. sue them for back pay and other labor law violations. this does not apply if you volunteered to work overtime.

I agree about calling the BBB. Just because they're understaffed doesn't mean that they should take advantage of other employees.
