Ringo and George never tried to hog the limelight, or get into the newspapers, and for that they appeared to grow up the more level-headed and genuine people.
At the time of Lennon's death, both he and McCartney had their heads up their own a***s.

Paul and John were great in their own right, However I'd have to say my favorite was George Harrison he was the soul of the group. He wrote several of my favorite Beatles Songs
"Tax Man"
"Something"
"Savoy Truffle"
Great guitarist too!!!

I used to really fancy Paul McCartney when I was young, but now he's such an embarrassing ****! That "v" sign thing he keeps doing, like all 60+ grandads do, what's that all about!?
Anyway, the Beatles were fab, but individually I wouldn't pick any of them!

Not to sound sacreligious, but the question's a little like the time one of Jesus Christ's followers asked asked him who among them was the greatest (Peter or James? can't remember which one).
The Beatles were one "body", if you will, and as a group they were much better than any one of them could be by himself. (They proved this in the years following 1970, the year they officially split up).
John was the voice, Paul the body, George the soul of the group...

I think it was both John and Paul, as they were the lead songwriters, teh lead singers and the soul of the beatles- they were in a way, the "dynamic duo."

if I've said it once one here I've said it 1000 times lol It's George Martin! Without him the Beatles would have only been half the band they were!! I think he picked up some recognition for this lately at some awards show thing!??

George Harrison for being the only bloke besides Dave Grohl to suit a moustache. Oh, and he wrote 'Something'.

None were as good as Paul and John together,i think its a sin to divide them, its like saying who do your like better ,your mom or dad (in a normal family) how can you choose.

the Beatles have split up, half are dead, and they were massively overrated any way so that just leaves Ringo `cos he went on to do Thomas the tank engine.

Ringo is a star. So cool and understated. Not pretentious or attention seeking
