Player wise a IPOD. Privacy wise (anything but a IPOD). Appl stores more information about you habits, Personal registration info, Plus the extra things that happen everytime you synch your Ipod with the notoriously popular Itunes software. Ipod is at the forefront of tracking filesharing gurus that have downloaded thousands of songs for free. Ah you will find this out if The recording indutries every win a restitution suit against those that download thousands of songs for free. Most MP3 players that use microsoft software will play all songs no matter what the format where as Itunes is a little fickle in that department as well as pricey.

All ipods up to the 20Gig model are MP3 players.
Ipod is just a brand name, and has little to do with quality craftsmanship or reliability.
Regardless of the brand, they all hold about 250 songs per Gig of space, they all offer similar features, and they all break.
The "Everybody has an Ipod!" image is intentional, and a direct result of Apple's intent to corner the market with an expensive and clever advertising campaign.
Some players fit some people better than an ipod would, and others are hooked on the range of available accessories for the ipod..."Better" is really a personal choice.

A. An IPOD IS an MP3 player.
B. An IPOD is, in my opinion, the best MP3 player.

I experienced this. An i-Pod is a good mp3 player but fact is that you pay for the name. Other MP3 players can have more storage memory for songs and the more you pay the more you get. When you buy an i-Pod you have to pay extra for things like a Radio for example. Most good mp3 players have all this integrated. Another bad thing about i-Pods is that they hang alot and they need i-Tunes. When using a normal MP3 player it acts like your computers Hard Drive (I assume its C:/) so that you can just drag songs onto it and delete them one by one anytime. An i-Pod is so much more limited than other MP3 players. I had an i-Pod Video and went over to other things until I found the perfect match for me. I recommend you MP3 players by COWON, you might want to check it out so you have an idea of what alternatives you have: http://www.iaudio.com
I hope this helped you.
I kinda need some points so if this helped you then pleeeeaaaase choose me as best answer... I dont mean to sound desperate but I have to catch up with some friends (its like a bet)

well, as u have found out, and ipod is an mp3 player.... i have an ipod and i like it, but i think ipods are a little overrated. just because they've basically taken over the entire mp3 music world. i would check some others out, too. Microsoft is coming out with the Zune and it looks really cool. it has a lot of things that ipods dont. you can share music with your friends wirelessly.

MP3 player hands down. They can do everything an Ipod does but are compatible with ALL MP3 music. Ipods require you to download Ipod music while... well I pretty much said it.

i really think it depends on A: exactly what you want in the mp3 player...and B: how much youre willing to pay. and C: how many songs you want on it.... some mp3 players double as flash drives... an ipod would most likely run higher in cost, but they can play videos, movies, and hold many more songs than most mp3 players......and an ipod is an mp3 player.....just one type though.... i would advise to look around and see how much you want in the mp3 player vs. how much youre willing to pay..... hope that helps.
