Uncle Sam is alive and kicking!
He makes me send him money each and every month. I was talking with a friend the other day, and he says Uncle Sam makes HIM send money too.
I sure don't know what he's doing with it all, but based on my math, he makes WAY more money than I do.

The name Uncle Sam, was created in World War 1 as a recruiting effort by the U.S. Government. The slogan was, Uncle Sam wont's you. The name stuck and Uncle Sam is still around running this country. If he is buried, it's in Washington under tons of paper work.

Uncle Sam is a fictional character, although some think it was based on a guy named Samuel Wilson who died in 1894 and buried in Troy, NY.
