I am a black female and would like to know why is it so hard for white people to accept us blacks as people?

From as long as i've remembered whites have always had this problem of taking blacks as lesser humans than they are.I live in south africa and it has been 16 years since we gained independence from white opression, even after the crimes that were done against us we still forgave white peolple but they still do not see our humanity.Why are white people so greedy? You never hear stories of black people going to Europe to try and take over, we never seeked to take what belongs to the white man but whites managed to take so much from us.I live near a place called Cullinan where the biggest diamond in the world was found and i fail to understand why some queen in europe wears on her head and not a piece of it was left in Africa? Despite the forgiveness white people are still arrogant and also don't want to admit to the faults they commited. We have been likened to monkeys and killed because we do not deserve to live.Even if you contest what i am saying,deep down you know it is the true!!!!!

I did not post this question because i hate white people or something.... I asked this question cause i wanted to understand better. But i do know that i am going to offend a lot of people but i just had to ask since this has been burning me for so long

Your question is reverse racism. You are lumping anyone with white skin all together. See how it works both ways?
Personally, I am extremely offended by your question and sweeping generalizations. But people with your mindset aren't even worth my time. It is this mindset that makes this world such a dangerous and isolating place.

why in the world would you ask this question in America. They do not think like the people in South Africa. They do not have a clue how life is there. White people see no problem because the problem does not affect them so these will be the kind of answers you get here. It amazes me that so many young people come on and ask these type of questions when you have the internet you can research anything you want and have your questions answered by people who know a little more than the people who chose that particlar question to answer. Black people understand some of what you are saying but the images that come out of Africa aren't exactly the most positive pictures I have ever seen. So if they don't look so good what do you think people think. They think you are the things they say you are. It'll never change so accept it and move on.

'White People' and 'Black People'... those are some pretty large groupings to use when making generalized, blanket statements, don't you think?

The problems in South Africa - our own shameful history in the US - completey inexcusable. But to label one single color of people as evil, and place another color of people up on a pedestal as good and wholesome in every way (and victimized by the big bad white man)... ludicrous.

Color doesn't have much to do with it. Look outside your own bubble long enough, and take a look back through history, and you'll realize... it's human nature to opress other humans. Sad but true. Some use race to seperate themselves from what they consider 'lesser people', others use religion. When both those fail, they come up with other reasons to hate each other.

Are you really going to sit there and tell me that native Africans have never raised a hand against anyone except for in defense of themselves? Never fought amongst themselves? Look around you... your whole continent is embroiled in conflict. It's always been the same. The only difference is you didn't spread out across the globe.

I feel for you and your people... really do. I know you've suffered great injustice. But if you want to rise above the people who have held you down - maybe you might want to elevate your thinking past theirs. Because right now - you're lumping white people into the same types of groups that you're accusing them of lumping you into.

You really want to get away from racism? Well... that takes the realization that on the most basic level, all people are pretty much the same. Just because you got the short end of the stick doesn't mean your people might not have done exactly the same thing if the roles had been reversed.

This question spans more than the gap between the black and the whites. History shows many who have been persecuted, look at the Jews, they were exterminated like animals. To argue about past wrongs doesn't lead us anywhere good, it becomes a game of keeping score. No one race should be lumpted together the whites, the blacks, the indians, the hispanics, the asians.... We are responsible for our own state of mind, that of prejudice or of acceptance. We are each individuals and we can only change the world by changing ourselves.

I agree with you that racism is alive and strong today.
I think humans are basically animals. I mean look at the wars we fight in the name of religion. Look at all the horrible stuff that is going on all over the world. Just watch the news and see how we kill and torture each other. I don't know what it's going to take until we all progress to a more evolved state. Look at me...I can't even get along with my own family sometimes. I'm trying though.

Sweetie,im white and i don,t hate black people.I understand that black people suffered a lot but the ones they suffered under are all dead and gone.i don,t think this generation has ever even seen a slave,this all happened before my time...I live In Texas and there is black people every where...Black people have problems with the whites as well as whites have problems with the blacks...both are very proud of their race....You need to take white people as individuals,not all whites are like that....We should also take all black people as individuals also,some have big chips on their shoulders and others are normal.........Its not all whites and not all blacks,its what they have been taught,both sides are prejudist to some extent......Im sorry you are having problems,but don,t blame all whites for what some do.........

I am a white woman from America, I do see your point. I think that in Africa the racial tension is higher than it is here. Here in America we do understand what it is that we have done in the past to our brothers and sisters of different color. I agree with you in the fact that white people have over the years been Greedy, selfish, self righteous. We have taken people and lands that don't belong to us. We here in America have slaughtered Indians, blacks and taken their rights away. At this point in History we have laws that protect people of color from being unrightfully targeted. I have to say that for the most part we all get along, Most of us have friends that are of different colors and we see people of color as equal. Of course you still get the usual jerks that treat people with unkindness. I agree with you about the diamond....that should have stayed in Africa. But from what I know about Africa, I don't believe that it's only white people that have treated blacks in Africa unfairly, there are black leaders that have been greedy, selfish and self righteous. There is a genocide being carried out. Blacks against blacks, brother against brother. My dear, when people like you get over your prejudice and mindset and let go of your hate, you will find the world will come to you. As long as you feel the need to be repaid and treated differently than any other race, you will always have resentment. This is almost 2007, time to let go and grow up kiddo.
