yes indeed a smile,
the innocence of drawing
back & slighting lifting the
corners of ones mouth as
the upper lip sometimes
exposes the teeth, the curving
of furrows betwix the nostrils
and mouth,
and a formation of wrinkles under
the eyes expressing a twinkle
always lifts up my spirits...
always .... i look forward to a
strangers smile & pleased when
it surfaces on a face i know not....
whether it be from an old seemingly
moody aging person to a crying
child who in a sudden breaks way
with a surprised smile when seeing
me smile at their tears of attention!

Both are very wonderful things but I have to go with a smile because you can share it with anyone, where as a kind word I may feel a little awkward sharing that with someone I hardly know, but I can share a smile with anyone at all and feel good about it.

I love both. A smile can really cheer me up on a dark day, especially from someone I didn't expect - but a kind word goes a bit farther because it's more personal.

Both are equally important, but if I had to choose one I'd go with kind word. Something as simple as having a stranger say "Bless You" when I sneeze brightens up my day a bit. It takes a bit more effort to approach someone and say something than it does to smile. Nevertheless, people should do both more. It would make our world a better place.

Definitely a smile - because this is easier to give (esp to strangers) and the person receiving the smile can interpret it whicheer way they like Whereas a kind word is quit definite and doesn't let people use their imagination and dream. :)
