I have fair skin, so anytime I run into a chair or something, there is a bruise. This past week or so though, I have found bruises on my legs that I can't even think of what I could have hit or run into. It seems like they just appeared out of nowhere. A friend of mine is a medical assistant, and she said maybe it's low iron. I haven't changed my diet or anything recently-- still eating whatever I want lol It's just weirding me out I guess and I'd like to know what, other then low iron, could be the cause. Thanks :)

If you are susceptible to bruises, you may not recall bumping into something, but actually you have, very lightly...

Have a blood work up and determine if you have severe iron deficiency. Have them also check your ARA levels.
I go thru this and the answers were surprising. If you have heavy menstrual cycles this can cause low iron.
I still get some bruising but not as severe. My bruises would start from within and work their way to the surface, in deep purple coloring. They would fade quickly to yellow then disappear. Sometimes they were tender to touch and other times I'd feel nothing upon touching them.
Please do not put this off. see a hematologist.

that happens to me a lot i just woke up today to find a massive bruise on my arm.
It could be a ghost in your house that is harming you if so get an exorcist in there and he'll get the ghost out either that or you sleep walk and you bash into things. If you sleep walk the best way is to relax yourself and don't eat too much sugar during the day or drink too much coffee doing the day. You have to get relaxed somehow so go to a spa and they'll relax you so you'll find out that there will be no more bruises.
When your having a bath put in some lavender oils as well that really relaxes you.
I hope this helps you :)

I have low iron and get bruises that I don't remember all the time. Go to the doctor and have your iron checked. In the mean time, it won't hurt to eat more food with iron and folic acid (helps your body absorb iron, like broccoli).

My dad and I have the same thing happen to us. The doctor told him that parts of our body (especially the legs and arms) have a tendancy to have blood vessels burst very easily. It's nothing to be concerned with and it is very commonplace...and quite noticable if you are fair-skinned.

It is something you need to see a doctor about if you are getting a great number of bruises and they don't heal quickly.

Otherwise, just continue to eat healthy, take a daily vitamin and you'll be fine.

Have you ever heard of Von Willibrands Syndrome? Check it out. Just search on yahoo.com or google.com It's nothing bad. It's a bleeding disorder that can range from very mild to very severe but don't worry, from what your describing if you had this it would be the very mild form.

I do that every now and then. And I know it's from daily little bangs and bumps. I wouldn't worry about it if they go away. If they don't see your doctor. Like you friend said you might have low iron.
