Misery loves company...and happy, submissive women are not company for the feminists.
Feminists look down on submissive women because said women are happy living a traditional life in the face of many a fembot claiming you have to have your own career to be happy. In other words, it flies in the face of feminism. If feminists were truly all about the right to choose, they wouldn't have a problem with women who choose to be submissive. To be honest, it takes more strength to be submissive to a husband than not to be...which is why some women can no longer find it within themselves to do it. Isn't it just like some women to deny the validity of anything they can't find within themselves. Sounds pretty childish to me, actually.

I don't look down on submissive women, I look down on the men who only marry them because they are submissive. And this is what I have seen a lot of people also hate.

I don't submit myself to anyone except ALLAH. But to your question I do obey my husband as that's what my relgion teaches me to do and that's what I think every woman should do but the reason society as a whole looks down on submissive women has to do with if a woman is submissive to her husband or a daughter to her father than that women is being oppressed and controlled and unsubmissive women think that because women fought so hard for equal rights(which we still don't have by the way) that they're idiots and don't know their rights.

Some people are just plain CRUEL but,
I dont think many look down on submissive women. To be submissive is the Want or Need to be told or forced into a specific act depending on the person. You get many submissive men as well and if you look at it from a sex point of view a subbmissive person always wants to be a slave and wants to told what to do and punished and rewarded but at the end it is somthing that they enjoy and want.
Give them the oppatunity to be dominating and many may reject but many will unleash a side you will neva see in them.

I personally admire submissive women and I wish I could be one but I think that times and things have changed. Maybe women needed to be submissive way back when. Their lives depended on it. In 2006 women don't need men the way that they did in 1906.

I personally think it's because most of us tend to think "well if I can do it then so can they." This is not true. Everyone has a story and everyone's capability to handle stress or view something as unhealthy is different. Just cause we view someone as submissive does not mean that they do if they are following in the footsteps of their tradition/culture etc. I believe the best way is to show them respect for what they are doing, validation, and reinforce their good qualitites so that they gain confidence in themselves. If everyone look's down on them then how can they ever rise above?

submission is seen as a weakness. The person is not strong enough to defend themselves, and do what they want... so it seems (some women choose to be submissive). It looks like another person is controlling the women instead of her in control of herself. Submissive women tilt the balance of power between man and women (although some would argue that there is no balance to begin with). Therefore, these women are looked down upon.

that depends on what your definition of 'submissive' is. if it is in reference to a Dominant/submissive relationship, it may seem that she is being looked down upon, however, her submission is the greatest gift she could give her master.
generically in society, submissives are looked down upon... both male and female

Aren't there enough problems in the world today without having to add submissive women to the agenda? We all have choices, theirs is to live a submissive life. Does it hurt you? No. So let others live their lives - and make it your business if they ask for help.
