I read a newspaper article about his early life. He was beaten almost every day by his evil step-father. Later in life, he never wanted anyone to have power over him again. He was hyper-sensitive to any sign of disrespect, criticism or desent, having ministers taken out and shot for disagreeing with him just once, etc.
From this, we can learn to read a basic biography of someone before voting for them. If they had a happy, stable home life, they stand less chance of being a complete psycho.

If you do bad things, it comes back eventually to bite you in the a**. If you think that you are above everyone, it becomes a liability. Each of his victims made him many more enemies. Also, a delusion of permanency in his mind made him unable to correct the inevitability of his fall. It became an arrogance of power. He is trying to make himself a symbol of Iraq, a martyr. In the end, he will become a by-word for everything that is (and was) wrong in Iraq. He is a failed tyrant, no one will cry for him, only celebrate his great fall.

Not enough room on this board to list his crimes against humanity. So I guess the lesson would be what ever Saddam did, it would be wise to do the opposite.

Maybe our CIA should stop placing these people or helping these people when they do get into the place of power. If you look back they made him, bin laden, noriega, and a host of others that have been nothing more than a black eye to the world.

He made only one fatal mistake: oppose US.
Israel's atrocities against Palestines or Pakistan's against India and plenty of such examples exist in history. But they continue to thrive because they are not in opposition to US in anything.
So, the lesson is: do what you want but do not oppose US. You will thrive and have the blessing of US to continue whatever you are doing.
