In fairness, Putin had done a lot for Russia. The standard of living of ordinary Russians had improved. This accounts for his higher than 70% popularity rating (a figure G W Bush would envy). But there is still a lot to be done. The main problem is still corruption. The previous liberal governments of Gorbachev and Yeltsin haven't done anything to weed out corruption. Maybe Putin will be exerting an iron-hand to solve corruption. However, he is doing a balancing act on this one, as he will be perceived outside as leading Russia back to dictatorship. Another problem is human-rights. Although individual freedom has been more relaxed, still nobody can openly criticize the government. So in a sense, freedom is still limited to some extent.

Putin is not a problem of Russia on day. The people had choose him(It was necessary to choose best of the worst ), because they didn't want to give their lives in the hands of the communists.
The main problems are:
1)Poverty of the largest part of people.
2)Unwillingness to work, and to change their lives to the best.
