My friend/roommate has been 87lbs since she was 8yrs old. She is now 37yrs. She is not anorexic as far as I know and is not a fitness person either. In fact she is pretty normal. She is about 5'4. We talk about this but she is sensitive with others about her weight and lies at times (saying it is more) to avoid remarks. The dietician told her she has a high metabolism. This maybe true but is it possible that something else is not right?

87 Lbs doesn't seem right. I think that she must be underweight. As far as being the same weight for 25 years... I guess it is possible, but being the same weight as you were when you were 8? Holding the same weight as you were when you reached adult height is probably more common. Think of it, at the age of 8 you are in the third grade. I can'y begin to think of how much I weighed at 8, but is is CONSIDERABLY less than I weigh now.
I think it is possible that your friend needs to see a doctor who deals with weight and eating disorders. I think one of my LEGS weighs 87 lbs. If she feels healthy though... what can you do?

if she has a high motabolism its understandable, that she would be at the same weight for many years,but...i would say she is quite under weight,im gonna automaticly assume she is very petite, with a small frame,so i would think within the 114-127lbs sounds about right, its one thing to not have as much fat as possible, but its another thing when you look like a skelaton, and way under your weight limit,to be considered healthy, dont get me wrong,im sure she is beautiful women(like most are, just being nice :D)

if i were you,if she is fine with what she is at,and she is healthy, she eats her greens and what not, than thats fine.

but if she isnt so comfortable about her weight, then will eventually have to do something about it,or why else cry about it,you know what i mean?put it this way,if you can see someones rib cage while they are just standing still normally..thats to skinny.

It doesn't sound normal, but unless she is suffering ill health because of it or showing signs of malnourishment then it must just be a unique condition for her. Does she look like she needs nourishing, are her eyes, skin and hair dull and lifeless etc. If not, don't worry about it.

87lbs, that is about 6st. 2/3lbs. it does seem a little under weight but she is only 5ft 4ins so if she feels OK in herself, I personally don't think she should worry, especially since she has had a stable weight for the past 25yrs.

Trust your (or in this case her) body. Why look for problems where none have shown themselves?
