If you're 16 and pregnant, the spinabipfida test is the least of your worries.

if it doesnt run in your family then there isnt anything to worry about. The risks for those diseases they test for are especially high in women over 30, or who have those illnesses in their family.

Iam 23 and no one in my family has any of the diseases in the quad test, so i opted not to have them done, and had an ultrasound instead.

Its very very very (and i repeat) VERY common to get a FALSE POSITIVE on those tests. about 50% of all the tests result in a false positive. When you get a positive they do the ultrasound (which theyre going to do anyway to check development) and rule out any spina bifida.

So. You will have to decide if you want to do the quad testing, and if you do, you'll have to chill out and not react to the test results until after your ultrasound.

:) That particular test is the dumbest of all tests they do when you're pregnant. It has a 50% failure rate! lol. Its not like they can DO anything for the child if there is a sign os spinabifida, unless you can afford the 500,000 dollar invitro surgery that completely risks the life of your child.

So chill out. It'll be fine.

Just try not to focus so much on that right now until you know for sure. The added stress from worrying is not good for you or your baby.

i wouldn't worry about this test. it is so rare any more that with proper prenatal care you would not have a problem.

are you going to keep this child or are you going to adopt it out my wife and i have a 7 year old boy and we are in our late 40 and early 50,s and have been looking to adopt

i would be more concerned about what kind of morals and values a child will be raised with when a teen becomes pregnant and has to depend on welfare to raise the kid. adoption into a stable financially secure home is an option.

i dont think that u should get the test because if your baby is going to have it what is that test going to do for u but get u up set befor the baby is here and if that baby has it there is no chaging it and youll love your baby no matter what and alot of girls dont think about that

You are smart to be concerned, but there's nothing you can do to prevent it... Just be calm - the bad vibes can also effect the baby.

Good luck!
