As a teen ager I never had any guidance either, except of course, I was taught how to be negative. As a result I have made many mistakes in my life, and have suffered horribly.
I had nobody to tell me about the power of positive thinking and how to turn my thoughts around, I had to finally hit rock bottom and come to the point in my life where nothing was working anymore and I had nowhere to turn.. so I looked up..and asked for help. The power of positive thinking is a good start but once you've read all the material and think you have it down it doesn't actually integrate until you realize that there is a power beyond that running through everthing.. look for it... find out what it means to you , then embrace it and you'll have your guidance..
I'll give you a hint to get you started.. Once you have your thoughts turned around to the positive and you have them under control.. sit in a quiet place and meditate...the little quiet voice that's left will be your guidance.

There is always something missing because the "everything" that you speak of, is only on the out-side.
To have a rich, powerful life. You must find something within yourself....a calling. Something that you enjoy doing that may benefit others.
It makes a life rich with passion and enjoyment, regardless of out-sides sources.
( the depressive anxiety - gets lost, in the process)

If you really been diagnosed with a mood or anxiety disorder, then you should know that it's not because you don't have any "guidance'.
What you are describing is very typical among people who suffer from these conditions.
Talk to your doctor and your therapist about this. Today, if possible.

I think you need to do some soul searching...
Why don't you believe in God?
What is the cause of your anxiety ??
Go to a friend... just talk with someone anyone..even if it was a stranger...

I know how it is to be distant from parents ( both meanings )...

I know you don't believe in God but you could try praying you never know you might just get an answer. If you 're that desperate for guidance, you won't dismiss anything that might work and if you haven't tried it, how do you know it won't work.

Just try, what do you have to lose?
