That totally depends on how it is done. Personally i love anal sex and i sometimes crave it. But preparation is the key. If you just get straight to it and shove it in there, yes it will hurt like hell!! But get warmed up, make sure you are REALLY turned on because it just seems to work if you are. The best time for anal is straight after vaginal because of how relaxed you are.
Use lube and go slow at first and it shouldn't hurt. It can sometimes feel uncomfortable for the first few seconds, but not painful for me. But that feeling soon turns to bliss. It may feel like you 'need to go' at first but i actually love that feeling, i love the 'filled up' feeling you get from anal, it's so amazing!
One trick I've learned is to 'push out' gently as if you are going to the toilet as he enters. Yes it does hurt during the enterance process, but relaxiation can soothe the process, once youre into it though, you are into it! However, please do remember that you will be in pain if you have to poop the next two days. When you have anal sex, your anus is forces to strech. There are many nerve endings and tiny vains in this area that can tear and as a result you will bleed. So therefore in the days after your anus will begin to go back to its normality and the cuts will scab, meaning that everytime you have to poop you will feel the scab tearing all over again!

having experience on both ends I will tell you that there are 2 very important rules.
1. Lube is your friend, there is no such thing as too much lube.
2. Go slow and work your way up to it. One finger, 2 fingers, then when it comes to the real thing, the man should enter slowly and a little bit at a time, especially the first time.
A tail hole is not like a vagina, they are built differently and should be entered differently. Position can be VERY important!

depends on his penis size! if he is bigger than 7 its a yes it will hurt everytime like hell. If he is bigger than 8 it will be as painfull ans giving birth. But if he is a small guy then it will still hurt at first evan with lube but eventually you will get used to it. Be carefull though coz he will wont it like that all the time.

Some females have very sensitive anuses and it is painful. I have found this difference in women on whom I did a sigmoidoscopy or proctoscopy. It may lead to rectal pathology, though.

yes it hurts more than regular, but if the guy takes his time to go in if wont hurt as much. its painful but at the same time its plesure. also use some lubricant.
