I am only 5'1" tall so you see for me to place my hands on his shoulders like women normally would, I would have to tip toe and stretch way above to slow dance with a man of this height. I have tried this once and it was awkward and so not sexy or romantic. Anyone please advise.

I would suggest placing one hand on his bicep or forearm (whichever is more comfortable) since you cannot reach the shoulder. You can have your other hand held in his hand.

Redefine what you think of as normal. Standard dance position is for the lady to put her right hand in the man's left hand, and as the man puts his right hand in the vicinity of her left shoulder blade, she places the V between the left thumb and index finger on his right arm at the base of the deltoid (just below the shoulder, in a natural notch). Standard dance position easily adjusts for height differences, allows you to choose whether to have body contact, keeps your feet out of each others' way, and gives a more appealing appearance.

I am 5' and my fiance is 6'3" so slow dancing for us has always been an issue. The trick is, the female does not have to place both her hands on his shoulders (that method screams "I'm at a junior high dance in the gym"). Place your left hand on his shoulder and have his left hand grasp your right hand with his right hand on your waist. It's very "Dirty Dancing" but it works for couples with a noticeable height difference that don't want to look awkward.

I used to date a guy that was 6'6 and I am just 5'0...BIG DIFFERENCE!! but I always wore really tall heals and then I wouldnt put my arms all the way around his neck, I may put them on his biceps or something like that. It is awkward I know but doing this helped alot...

I'm 5'1' as well. I either put my hands in his pockets or hug his thigh. This slows him down to a complete stop, then we go quickly go to another room (hee, hee).
