We just had our flat roof redone on our house in FL. When it is wet, water is "pooling" a little over where some of the black roof mastic seals the seams on one area. I thought water should run off the roof in streams and not pool. Should I be concerned at all?

Generally, a flat roof will pool water in places. This is why there are tapered insulation systems available to correct this situation. These tapered panels are installed prior to the roofing membrane being installed. Tapered systems are not cheap, as they are most often designed on-site by the roofing contractor, if the contractor is knowledgeable at all, so they are not used frequently. Generally, if the standing water evaporates within 48 hours, it is acceptable to the manufacturers of most roofing membranes used in flat roofing. There are many flat roof systems available, and depending on what you have, you should be fine if you are within the 48 hour guideline.

Your thought is right on, but the roof needs very slight elevation for it to run off.
In most instances the roofer would put a modified raiser on the non drainage side of the roof. Then where the drainage field is in the ground, this is where the water (rain) can run off. Hope this helps.

If the water ran off in streams, then the roof would not be FLAT. That is why flat roofs have to be redone more often than a sloped one. If it is not leaking, the water will evaporate. So you are OK!

this skylight is designed for a curb. Notice the metal flanges are made to fit over the curb. You can frame the curb in yourself if your ceiling joist are far enough apart. Just make a box that extends above the roof line and nail it in. The skylight should set right over the box if you made it to fit the dimensions of the skylight. Be sure to flash the box curb you made so water can't run down the sides and into your apt. the height of the curb needs to be the thickness of your ceiling plus the height of the flashing on the skylight. Without knowing those factors, we can't give you an inch measurement.

as long as its sealed properly you should be alright, but if it leaks anywhere you should have it taken care.
