On motorcycles, the engine's torgue (turning force) is transfered via a chain, or belt to the transmission.
That is what the driver (rider) controls to shift gears.
That force is transfered to the wheel by a chain, belt or even a drive shaft.
That makes a drive wheel on a motorcycle "go round".
