Normally I do it the weekend following New Years day. I suppose that would be the 5th of January. I'd recommend doing it in steps as well. Forinstance one night take down the decorations, trees still look pretty with the lights and whatever you have posted at the top. Then whenever your ready taek off the lights and dump the tree, (assuming its a real one).

i feel your stress!
on new years day i will definitely have all my ornaments off the tree but if i run out of time i'll leave the lights on it so it at least will sparkle at night. when i get another spare hour or so in the upcoming week (or three) i'll take down the lights and put the tree away.
it is a pain because not only do you have to put all the stuff away, but vacuum and clean that area, and then put the furniture back where it was! ugh! lol
good luck! SD

We usually put down ours right after the celebration of the "The Three Kings" but it really depends on the person or family involved...if you feel everyday is a Christmas day then you can have it standing for as long as you want.

Usually it should be done by the weekend following New Year's day but no more than a week after. I had a neighbor who left his decorations up until May and the civic association was pretty upset about it.

after the new year.lol.
it really depends on what are you considering.
if your a traditional girl go ahead follow your family's tradition.
if your a busy girl take it down when you have time.
personally, i'd love to have a christmas tree all year, but i think that'll take the fun out of it. the best time would be after the new year but before january 6 (three kings).

Most people take down the tree just after new years. I would wait and do it the weekend after the new year if during the week is too hectic for you.

Superstition dictates you must remove your tree and decorations by the 6th January. If you aren't superstitious, then, for practicality's sake, I'd do it around that time anyway. If you have young children, leaving them up too long gives them more chance and time to wreck them.

Have the kids help you take down the ornaments. I took mine down yesterday and it only took 10 minutes.
