Blimey, Mrs. B. I think your moving across the pond is just grand! You might want to consider California, you would fit right in with your purple mohawk (please shed the hat).
You could start right off leading a support group "AA," that being "Anglophiles Anonymous" who would know!

Well it's not very easy. To get citizenship you have to live in America with a green card for a few years and then you can apply for citizenship. To get the green card, you'll need to do one of the following
1- Marry an american
2- Have an american's baby
3- Get sponsorship from a company so that you can work here (difficult- there are some programs in place but usually have limited time spans, not long enough to get you citizenship)
4- Study here (again, I dont think this can get you citizenship)
5- Bring enough money to buy a business, this will get you residency and eventually citizenship
There's a green card lottery, you can put your name down in that and wait to see if it pays off.
But to be fair, if you think you want to live in America you need to do a lot of research. Assuming you're UK based now, let me tell you a few things you'd miss...
1- the NHS. Even if you have health insurance here, your bills will be outrageous. If you don't, an illness or accident will leave you completely screwed. I live in London, but my family are in Florida and I'm visiting at the moment. At one point I thought I was getting ill and was having panic attacks as I saw my entire january salary flashing before my eyes.
2- Job security. Most US states have an "at will" policy, which means there are NO contracts. You can work there for 20 years and be told not to come back the next day, and they dont have to pay you a penny in redundancy. Also, most health insurance policies are tied to your job, so you'd be unemplyed and inunsured all at the same time.
3- If you're lucky, you might get 2 weeks holiday a year. Most jobs don't give you any more than that.
4- Maternity leave is, like, 3 weeks. I'm not kidding. Most women work until they go into labour, and are back in a matter of weeks.
People in England always say they want to go to America, but they dont know how good they have it!

Jump on plane...claim political asylum from some made up country and they'll open up their arms for you! Oh! sorry that's us in the UK!
GO marry an American but don't blame us when you're fat and forty, suffering from obesity and diabetes and can't afford your medical bills. But at least you'll have white teeth
