You can hang fake owls on the side of the house. I recently saw something on TV about this, but thats all I remember unfortunately.

Oh man, have I been through this. Honestly, there is really not much you can do. There's a whole bunch of crazy crap that you can put up to try to scare them away, but it really either doesn't work or makes your house look like a group home. Example, shiny strips of aluminum foil.

The one thing that I think would probably work better than the others, would be to put a fake 'bird of prey' in the tree that the woodpecker usually hangs out in. I haven't tried this yet, but next year it's what I'm going to do. My guess is it will have to be something better than a stuffed bird you won at the State Fair, but I think they can be found.

Good luck. I feel your frustration.

fix what is attracting them. i'll bet you have bugs or carpenter ants under the stucco. you might have a roof leak or crack in the stucco and water is getting in. bugs love wet wood and woodpeckers love bugs. i read an article about this somewhere and it said that woodpeckers can hear the bugs chewing. good luck and have a happy new year!

Along with the owl, hang a sign say, This is concrete stupid, not wood. If they continue, then it is on them! Actually, the bird is trying to find the insects inside your walls (probably ants). Have the house sprayed, inside and out. Yes, the birds know there is something in there, they aren't just pecking to find out.

I could get you a recipe for woodpecker stew.

I had one of the peckers break my window, trying to reach the reflection of a tree. I had to cover the window to block the reflection.

There are many products for pets when you don't want them to pee in your carpets and so.. but but bats I use sulfur and moth balls in they areas where they sleep and it works great, but for birds you should ask a farm store or a farmer.
