OK! why don't the government and authorities bring back hard labour for criminals and vet immigrants properly

For those of you who thought I meant professional do gooders as in health care and so on! I DIDNT.I simply meant is this country the pathetic soft touch everybody accept the goverment can see it is.I have no intention of mentioning our forces or health sector.Scrap the Benefit system its old and out dated

Because, as an intelligent, democratic society we voted in this selfish, money-grabbing, criminal government and continue to keep them there. Who do you think bought in all these pathetic pc laws, lets loose criminals instead of creating them more housing (ie prisons - if you need them, build them) and allows our country, to be the only country stupid enough in the entire world to accept anyone from anywhere and then if they don't want to work give them money, a home and a whole load of other benefits because we're soooooo nice.

This country has gone to the dogs. Compare your taxes (don't get me started!) to other countries and what they get/have to put up with and I think you will realise we are all idiots and should leave - sooner rather than later.

JOHN jen, you have it wrong - civil rights got us into this mess where the criminals have more protection and rights than the victims: our problem is civil wrongs.

I go with the majority on this one and would get rid of all the rights, the TV and video games, the gyms, the mobile phones and time off for 'good' behaviour - get them out clearing rubbish out of canals, clearing ditches, litter picking, and a bit of really hard labour where needed. Win back the streets for us poor taxpayers who work a hard week to give these criminals an easy life with full protection for their 'civil rights'.

... and if you don't believe my 'majority' do a survey of your own in your own high street or in the supermarket, school gates, you'll soon find a majority in favour of a much harder line in the criminal 'justice' system.

Because the American Civil Liberty Union will sue anyone who dares to treat Criminals like Criminals. Take away their gyms, libraries, TVs, access to the Internet, free education, and the rest of the perks that many Honest, but Poor, Americans can not afford. Put them to work to pay for their support in Prison!
I agree that the Welfare State Benefits are in need of a complete overhaul, so that only those who are Legal Citizens, and really need help are able to get it, without bankrupting the Taxpayers.

In some states, like Florida and California, they still have criminals working on road crews, putting out wildfires, digging trenches, or working on other difficult municipal jobs. I wish more states would do the same thing. Maybe the interstates in the northeast wouldn't be in such bad shape while the tolls keep going up (And what exactly are the high tolls paying for? It's not like they're fixing the roads.).

I think chain gangs and hard labor for our criminals would be an excellent and appropriate punishment-- including the white collar criminals. No need for prison gyms; give them a shovel and a pile of dirt to move around.

The "compassionate" will say that is cruel and unusual. I say it is fitting and if we instituted it as policy it would not be unusual anymore.

even as human beings like my better 0.5 who favor to coach to furnish themselves and their households a extra effective destiny are being refused help to finish that. even as faculties are at snapping element because of being swamped with immigrant little ones who desire one to at least one training to study English - consequently higher fee. even as British households are sitting in mattress and Breakfast and Homeless hostels because the authorities received't make investments in construction extra social housing for them (and what little is left is earmarked for Asylum Seekers)? i do not understand how they could locate the money for it. As accepted "i'm very well Jack" center type politicians they merely block their ears and cover their eyes to the above issues and merely imagine of ways strong the Olympics in London will cause them to look . . .

I think the Government must be getting something out of it, nobody could be so useless. There must be some sort of tax thing or something that makes the Government want more immigrants then their own people.

coz no one really knows what to do, the crims get 11000 per year, can sue the authorities if they dont get their way, who said crime doesn't pay!!! the govmnt are too weak. the pc brigade has won
