Terrorists will Not be Released for Holiday

IsraelNN.com--Israel will not release Arab prisoners for the Muslim holiday of Eid el Adha. Last week, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert promised Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas that he would consider such a move as a goodwill gesture, but the prime minister has not yet held a meeting on the subject, and the Muslim holiday begins on Saturday. "If there is no discussion there will be no release," said a senior figure in the Prime Minister's Office.

Other sources said the prime minister decided on Friday morning not to release Arab prisoners before kidnapped IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Shalit was freed. A senior official in the Prime Minister's Office responded to the Arab complaints about Olmert's decision, saying "instead of expressing regret, if these officials would abide by the cease-fire, maybe they would get prisoners."

It is funny to me, but when a Muslim holiday comes around there is a rise in terrorism on the days that they should be getting in touch with their god.

If you allowed the Muslims to be released from prison for a Muslim holiday what do you think they would do?
a. Go to their mosks and praise Allah
b. Kill some more infidels.

"Terrorist" is always a relative term. I imagine there are criminals in Israeli prisons that even they would not consider terrorists and hence, sure, if it's tradition, let some go.

Edit: And honestly if the soldiers return is as important as it's made to sound, they, Israel, should just disengage from the occupied territories until they're returned. Close the borders. Eventually the Palestinians will need the money more than they need the soldiers and they'll talk. But the question isn't about the soldiers, is it? It's about prisoner swaps and releases that have happened for 30 years.

Yes, in the context provided. This is the way things were done in the Middle East for years until Olmert decided to go to war about it. For those who think that Israel won a victory, all three POWs are still being held, aren't they?

This is so ridiculous, of course they should not have a day off because of their religious beliefs!
